A gate valve operates by lifting or lowering the gate (wedge) along the flow direction to fully open or completely shut off the fluid. It provides minimal pressure loss when fully open, making it ideal for applications requiring an unobstructed, straight-through flow path. Unlike globe valves, gate valves are not suitable for throttling and are primarily used for on/off control. With a simple structure and reliable sealing, gate valves are widely applied in water, steam, oil, and general industrial piping systems.
